Nottingham has built a genuine specialty coffee culture around a handful of local roasters and the independents that pour their beans. Outpost Coffee and Cartwheel both roast in the city, while Stewarts of Trent Bridge has been roasting here for over three decades. Their beans turn up across town, from the Lace Market to Hockley, which means you can taste Nottingham-roasted coffee in several different rooms rather than one.
Sneinton Market is the cluster worth knowing. Stewarts roasts there with its sister cafe Blend next door, and Cartwheel runs its roastery in the same district. Over in Hockley you will find Effy, a micro bakery and espresso bar that rotates guest roasters, alongside brunch-led spots like Yolk and Dispatch.
