About

We list what's actually in the cup.

Most directories list a cafe and stop there. We think the interesting part is what's behind the bar: who roasts the beans, what machine pulls the shot, which grinder, what's in the cake cabinet. So that's what we put on every listing.

It's the one thing that can't be reliably scraped, and the one thing the people who care most want to know before they go. Square Mile or roasted out the back. A La Marzocco or a Sage. A cardamom bun baked that morning or a tray-in from a supplier. The details change the trip.

Independent by default

Chains are off unless you ask for them. Not because chains are evil, but because if you wanted a Costa you wouldn't need us. We hold an editorial chain list, and a single toggle hands you control. No paid result ever outranks a better cup.

Honest about the data

We pull base details legally from the Google Places API and OpenStreetMap. We never store Google photos or review text. The roaster, machine and grinder come from owners who claim their listing, from enthusiast contributions, and from careful checks. If a field is blank, it means we haven't confirmed it, not that we've guessed. That blank is an invitation: if you run the place, fill it in free.

The trip planner

The front door is the crawl planner. Tell us a town and a leaning, and we build an ordered, walkable route from the independents we hold the most detail on. The selection and the order come from real data. We never invent a cafe, and we'd rather hand you an honest shortlist than a weak crawl.

Is Crumb & Crema affiliated with any roaster or chain?

No. We are an independent directory. We list independents by default and never let a paid result outrank a better cup.

Where does your data come from?

Base details (name, location, hours, ratings) come from the Google Places API and OpenStreetMap. The roaster, machine and grinder, our differentiator, come from cafe owners, enthusiast contributions and careful checks against cafes' own websites. We never lift Google photos or review text.

How do you decide what is a chain?

We hold an editorial chain list. Anything on it is hidden unless you turn chains on. Heritage destinations get their own separate tier. Anything ambiguous is reviewed by a human before it goes live.
