UK & Ireland · independent first
Coffee & cake, worth the trip.
The directory for people who care what's in the cup. Every cafe lists the roaster, the machine and the grinder behind the bar, so you know the brew before you go.
Chains are off by default. Flip the switch to fold in the Costas and Neros — your call, not ours.
The coffee-and-cake trip planner
Tell us where you're going. We'll plan the weekend.
A town, a day or three, a leaning toward coffee or cake. We hand back an ordered, walkable crawl: a strong opener, a cake stop in the middle, an afternoon filter to wind down. Every stop names its roaster and machine.
A strong opener
Highest-rated espresso or a house roaster, to start the morning right.
A cake stop
The bakery-led room, dropped in the middle of the walk.
An afternoon filter
A single-origin pour-over to close the loop, minimal walking between.

Why we're different
Anyone can list a cafe. We list what's in the cup.
The bean, named
Square Mile, Origin, 3fe, or roasted out the back. We track who supplies every bar, and flag the cafes running guest and rotating roasters.
Roaster on every listingThe machine, listed
A Linea pulls a different shot to a Sage. For the people who notice, the espresso machine and grinder are right there on the page.
Machine + grinderPurists in control
Chains hidden by default. No paid result ever outranks a better cup. The independent toggle is yours, and it stays that way.

Questions, answered
What is Crumb & Crema?
Crumb & Crema is the UK and Ireland directory for independent coffee and cake. Every cafe is listed by what is actually in the cup: the roaster, the espresso machine and the grinder behind the bar. Chains are off by default.
How do you decide what counts as independent?
We hold an editorial chain list (Costa, Caffè Nero, Starbucks, Pret and so on). Anything on it is hidden unless you flip the chains toggle on. Owner-run cafes and small local groups are independents. Heritage destinations like tearooms get their own separate tier.
Where does the roaster and machine data come from?
From cafe owners who claim their listing, from enthusiast contributions, and from careful checks against cafes' own websites. We never fabricate equipment details. A blank field means we have not confirmed it yet, and that is the cafe's cue to fill it in free.
What is a coffee crawl?
Tell us a town, how long you have and whether you lean coffee-first or cake-first, and we plan an ordered, walkable route: a strong opener, a cake stop, an afternoon filter. Each stop shows its roaster and machine so you know the brew before you go.
